The Regional Centre Sofia – UNESCO was founded in 2011 as one of the seven centres in the world of this nature.

 

Cofounders of the Regional Centre are Ministry of Culture of Republic of Bulgaria, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Bulgaria and Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

 

Scope: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Türkiye and Ukraine.

 

Mission of the Regional Centre:

 

  • Encouraging the active cooperation in the field of intangible cultural heritage on a regional, national and international level
  • Commencing and carrying out initiatives for safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage from South-East Europe, through trainings, sharing good practices, etc.
